[AD] As part of our Milkshake! Magazine takeover we’ve taken a look at some of the benefits of reading magazines with your kids;

One on one communication
Reading magazines together can help you create a strong bond with a child. Magazines are full of opportunities to make and do and play and learn, and all with some of the coolest characters in children’s TV. Not only will you be spending quality time with your child but you’ll be helping them learn, and you’ll both be having fun at the same time! Chatting with your child is a fantastic way to boost their learning, and magazines will give you lots to talk about, whether it’s about an activity on the page or talking about their favourite characters! And it gets even better – Egmont’s research shows that the emotional connection that reading together creates can actually encourage children to read on their own.

It’s an activity you can both enjoy
Reading magazines with your child is a fun and affordable ‘treat with benefits’. Egmont believes that all reading is good reading, and that giving your kids access to magazines, which are packed with fun information and activities and have something for everyone on each page, can turn even the most reluctant readers into passionate ones.  Egmont has a huge range of children’s magazine titles, so there’s sure to be something for every child to enjoy.

Reading improves vocabulary and language skills
Reading has a big impact on children’s language and literacy skills and so much more! Egmont’s research shows that more than half of children who say they ‘don’t enjoy reading books’ actually prefer magazines, which means magazines are great for engaging all children in reading for fun. Research also shows that reading for fun helps children become better students in a variety of subjects, as well as having an impact on their happiness, communication skills and relaxation. What’s not to love?!

The first issue of the new look Milkshake! Magazine is on sale now and comes with an amazing Peppa Pig Shopping Set gift!
