As mums we lead busy lives and need all the energy we can get. Whether you’re new to motherhood or a mum of four, you’ll know that mornings are always hectic, making sure the kids are up, happy, fed and dropped off to school, which leaves us with very little time. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and so many of us busy mums miss it out completely, hunting for the kid’s school shoes, which isn’t healthy at all. Ditch those cereals that are high in sugar and try out these delicious and healthy recipes that will give you a steady release of energy throughout the day.

Poached eggs on avocado & feta toast
Avocado on toast is taking Instagram by storm with foodies ordering up the popular combo at cafés and posting their pictures on the social media platform. Celebs including Jennifer Aniston and Joe Wicks graze on the snack too, adapting it to suit their own tastes like Joe Wicks’ Cloud Eggs & Smashed Avocado on Toast recipe. For an insta-worthy breakfast, why not try Jamie Cullum’s moreish breakfast recipe that combines creamy avocado, salty feta, sourdough and a hint of chilli, topped off with a runny poached egg.

Overnight Oats
This recipe by Sophie Godwin can be made the night before, making for an easy hassle-free breakfast the following morning. For commuting mums, simply pop the oats into a thermal flask and enjoy them on the way to work to save you even more time in the morning. Whether you prefer nuts, seeds and chocolate or tropical fruit, the marvel of this recipe is that it can easily be adapted to suit your own personal preference. Oats are an ingredient that we all have hidden away in the back of our kitchen cupboards so why not dust them off and try out this recipe?
