With Christmas all over for another year, we’ve already started thinking about the best mini breaks to take this springtime and have suggested some fab locations for you to try! Take a look at our suggested locations and the best sights for you to see!
Prague
Prague, otherwise known as the city of a hundred spires will impress even the most well-travelled tourist with its history and beautiful, gothic architecture. You can explore the medieval streets in daylight, wander down the riverside and take a boat trip and when all becomes too much, take a pew in one of the many bars, sampling the finest lagers in the world and relaxing with some hearty Czech cuisine!
Things to do:
- Watch the Astronomical Clock strike an hour
- Situated within the Old Town Square, watch the spectacle of the mechanical clock marking the turn of the hour. Recently renovated, the clock itself is on the south face of the town hall and is the pride of Prague.
- Stroll across the Charles Bridge
- The Charles Bridge is the most beautiful and busiest bridge in Prague! After walking along this bridge ourselves, we felt that it connected the peaceful side of Prague and the busiest as well. Full of tourists, this 14th century bridge is one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of visiting Prague and is full of striking statues to photograph and enjoy.
- See the Prague Castle and watch the changing of the guard
- The Prague Castle is without a doubt the city’s most popular tourist attraction and it’s clear to see why. It’s a breath-taking piece of architecture and is today the official residence of the president. You can view the castle for free although many of the buildings within the grounds can be visited via ticket entry. Come midday, there is the changing of the guard which is spectacular to watch – there is a full fanfare and flag ceremony that lasts a good 30 minutes!
- Visit the Lennon Wall
- If you’re a Beatles fan then you need to check out the shrine honouring one of the most famous bands of all time. The wall has been covered with John Lennon-inspired graffiti, lyrics and quotes since the 1980s.

Amsterdam
There’s a never ending selection of things to do in Amsterdam whatever the weather, with many of the most rewarding experiences to be found when you step out of the well-trodden tourist paths of the city centre. Many of the attractions and experiences are covered by the Amsterdam City Card – a handy visitor pass which gets you free entry to dozens of museums and attractions.

- Take a canal cruise
- One of the best ways to see the city is by boat, and it is an unbelievably pretty sight by both day and night – when the bridges are lit up by fairy lights and the whole area takes on a magical feel. Taking a guided tour is the best as the guide will fill you in with all you need to know about the city.
- Visit the Red Light District
- Don’t be afraid of this one as it is definitely a must see to cross off your Amsterdam list! Head on over to the area and see the Moulin Rouge and grab a drink in one of the many bars and pubs.
