Spring is well and truly on its way, bringing a bounty of seasonal ingredients to cook with. As we are in March we are still close enough to feel winter’s chill and when it comes to cooking with seasonal ingredients we are a bit in-between. Take a look at what Ellie from Ellie’s Kitchen UK recommends that you cook with this month.
Purple Sprouting broccoli- the eager beaver of British greens, purple sprouting broccoli is one of the only home grown “green” vegetables that is in supermarkets right now. But stock up as its season is almost over.
Asparagus– appearing a little earlier than usual asparagus is readily available at the moment but waiting until the end of the month will make sure the asparagus tastes at its best.
Rhubarb- still going strong rhubarb is a great addition to any dessert, think a homely crumble or for something a little more refined serve poached rhubarb alongside a vanilla panna cotta.
Blood oranges- right in the middle of their season blood oranges are a great ingredient to work with.
