You’ve got the kite (from Kitedrone, obvs!), you’ve packed your picnic and checked the weather (no storms, yay) – now all you need is a good spot for kite flying. Luckily, we’ve done some research on that front so you don’t have to!
Even if you live in a built-up area, chances are you’re not far from a suitable kite flying spot. You just need to be aware of a few important safety rules, such as making sure you’re nowhere near an aerodrome or airport; making sure there are no overhead powerlines or cables of any kind; and watching out for obstacles around you such as roads, other people or even cliff edges!
There’s a more comprehensive list of where you can and can’t fly here but in short, you need lots of open space and room to roam! Think wide open parks, sandy beaches and grassy hills.
A good way to find kite flying locations is by searching for your local kite-flying club, as these host ‘fly ins’ at regular locations all over the UK, for when there’s no local festival or special event in your area.
