For those who don’t have a little one who regularly watches the PJ Masks heroes on TV, the latest theme in the episodes is Super Moon Adventure where the PJ masks venture to the Moon to save the day.
As part of this week’s PJ Masks toys takeover we’ve compiled a list of fun Moon facts so you can impress your little one with your out of this world knowledge:
- Earth’s Moon is the fifth largest in the solar system
- The Moon orbits the Earth every 27.3 days.
- The effect of gravity is only about one fifth as strong on the surface of the Moon compared to the strength of gravity on the surface of the Earth.
- The USA’s NASA Apollo 11 mission in 1969 was the first manned Moon landing.
- The surface of the Moon features a huge number of impact craters from comets and asteroids that have collided with the surface over time. Because the Moon lacks an atmosphere or weather these craters remain well preserved.
- Temperatures on the moon are very hot in the daytime, about 100 degrees C. At night, the lunar surface gets very cold, as cold as minus 173 degrees C.
- A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon.
If you little one likes all things to do with the Moon then they can watch new episodes of the PJ Masks Super Moon Adventures on Disney Jr
