In the past year, we’ve spent a lot of time at home and looking at the same old walls. Perhaps you’ve been thinking for a while that’s it’s time for a change. Or, maybe you’re just fancying a bit of a spruce up? Well, if that’s the case, we’ve got you covered!
Here are some quick and affordable home makeover suggestions to revamp your living space!
Bring the outdoors indoors
Plants and flowers make for a quick and simple addition to any space. Not only do they add some colour and texture to room, helping to make the area feel cosier and more relaxing, but they also help to absorb toxins, purify the air and they can even reduce noise levels!
Reorganise and de-clutter
It’s amazing how much of a difference removing a bit of clutter can make! And we live in a age where there is no shortage of ideas on how to reorganise and take control of your space! Mrs Hinch has become infamous for her cleaning and decluttering tips. Marie Kondo is another name that has become synonymous with tidying and clearing out the clutter! For a bit of inspiration, watch Marie Kondo in action in her Netflix series: Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Or otherwise, there’s Get Organised with The Home Edit, which sees Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin teach celebs how to get organised!
Add a personal stamp with home-made items!
One way to give your home a quick makeover is to add a few statement pieces. Why not make something of your own for a really personal touch? Or you could shop around for some one-a-kind creations! Check out the adorable home-made wreaths pictured below, which are made by a creative mum who sells some of her pieces on eBay (seller’s user ID: beadinluvly). And be sure to also have a browse of sites like Esty for some other lovely artisan items!
Create an accent wall
If you’ve got a neutral space, try adding an accent wall for a splash of personality! An accent/feature wall is a wall that has a different colour/design/material to the other walls around it. You can let your imagination run free here. You could wallpaper the chosen wall. Or you could select a bold paint colour. Just remember to add some accents around the room to coordinate with your new colour (e.g. cushions, throws, a rug, a vase, etc). And remember, you’re not just limited to paint and wallpaper – you could tile, add wall stickers, and so much more! For some inspiration, click here.
