Famous Mermaids and Unicorns

[AD] This week on UKMums.TV we are celebrating all things QTeez from Character Options and as there are two characters to collect, we thought it would be fun to take a look at some famous mermaids and unicorns!

1. The Little Mermaid – Disney
   We’re sure everyone recognizes Ariel or at some point perhaps wanted to be her, with her beautiful singing voice, luscious red hair and underwater friends!

   

2. The Little Mermaid – Hans Cristian Andersen
   So perhaps one of the most famous mermaids, she sits on a rock in the Copenhagen harbor and comes from the fairy tale by Andersen, about a mermaid who risks her life in order to follow the shipwrecked human prince she loves onto land… sound familiar? Not such a happy ending for this mermaid though as her human lover, marries someone else and Andersen’s mermaid is unable to return to her underwater kingdom and evaporates into sea foam… oh dear!

   

3. The Starbucks Mermaid
   Starbucks is named after a seafaring character, so its designers originally wanted a nautical logo. She’s since been watered down to something like the Statue of Liberty with fish bookends.

   

4. Splash – Daryl Hannah
   A 1984 American fantasy romantic comedy film that involves a young man who falls in love with a mysterious woman, who is secretly a mermaid! If you haven’t seen it, it’s one of our favourites here at UKMums.TV so check it out!

   

5. Toy Story 3 – Buttercup
   Buttercup is one of the many characters from Toy Story and features in the third film. We first encounter him in Bonnie’s room with lots of other toys who make friends with Woody, and eventually become firm friends.
   
6. The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
   An inspiration Unicorn envisaged by C.S Lewis who helps Aslan in the terrifying climax in The Last Battle.
