If you’re reading this, then like us you’re starting to get into the Christmas spirit, and with under two months to go until your advent countdown starts it’s time to start thinking about what sort of countdown you and your family will have.

Over the years advent calendars have become a main event in many households and instead of the usual couple of quid choccy countdowns people are treating their friends and family to extravagant (and often pricey) advent calendars, but why not consider making your own?

We love the idea of personalised treats, messages and mini gifts for each day of December and there are so many ways you can present them! Here are some ideas on creating your own advents at home…

Lots of boxes – We love the idea of having 24 mini boxes to open during December. Hobbycraft and Etsy are really great places to buy boxes to fill, and you can customise them with stickers, pom poms and ribbon!

Love notes – If you’re looking to keep the budget low then writing notes for each day is a great way to make someone smile for the whole countdown month without splashing the cash.
