Shades, sunnies, sunglasses – whatever you call them, every child needs a pair in their summer wardrobe. With the weather getting brighter and the temperature on the rise, kids will be itching to get outside and play in the garden. The sun’s UVA and UVB rays can be harmful to little eyes (even in the UK!) and as part of Sun Awareness Week, we’ve taken a look at some of the best sunglasses to help keep your little one protected.

Suneez Sunglasses – £25 – suitable for children aged 4-10
These stylish, polarised and funky kids’ sunglasses from Suneez come in six different colours (including red, blue, black, yellow pink and green) and provide 100% UVA and UVB protection for your little one’s eyes. With fully flexible frames, these sunglasses are virtually unbreakable and come with a handy strap and carry pouch so kids are less likely to damage or lose them!

Disney Frozen Olaf Blue Sunglasses – £5
Keep kids looking cool on even the sunniest of days with these Disney Frozen Olaf sunglasses, available to buy at Beauty Base.  A must-have for any young frozen fan, they are made with UV400 protective lenses.

Pink Rainbow Frame Sunglasses – £100
If it’s a designer name you’re after, then look no further than these playful pink sunglasses from Stella McCartney Kids. The lenses are category 2 – meaning they offer good protection against sun glare. Expertly crafted, they feature eye-catching rainbow detailing, branding on the side and carry the all-important CE mark.

Baby & Kids Sunglasses – £7
Available in sizes 0-2 years, 2-4 years and 4-6 years, JoJo Maman Bébé’s affordable and colourful range of sunglasses for babies and young children are made with UV400 protective lenses, which means they block out all light rays with wavelengths up to 400 nanometers so you can be sure that your little one’s eyes are safe from the sun’s harmful rays. You can also buy a sunglasses strap for an extra £3.50 to secure them to your child’s head if they have a habit of taking them off.

Hatley Tropical Palms Sunglasses – £7
Little ones will be ready for a day of fun in the sun with these cute shades, available to buy at Next. Whether you’re out on your daily walk with your little one or just having some fun in the back garden, their eyes will be protected from harmful UV rays while wearing these sunnies with UV400 protection.
