Sometimes the promise of a sweet treat or two is all it takes to get the kids out and about this summer holiday. Ahead of World Chocolate Day (7 July), we’ve taken a look at some of the sweetest days out for little chocolate lovers.

Baboo Gelato Kiosks – £2.50 for a single flavour
Get your chocolate fix at the seaside. If the weather is on your side, why not take a trip to the beaches of West Bay or Lyme Regis in Dorset? A visit to the beach is a great way to wear out the kids and enjoy some fresh air during the holidays, and a trip to the seaside just wouldn’t be the same without an ice cream! Dorset’s Baboo Gelato is a chocolate lover’s dream, with plenty on offer to make choosing a scoop deliciously difficult. Some of the tasty flavours include: Double Chocolate, Jaffa Cake, Mint Choc Chip, Peanut and Chocolate and Coconut Chocolate. Plus, Baboo supports local farmers and suppliers and much of the fruit used in their recipes comes from founder Annie Hanbury’s own garden!

Cadbury World, BirminghamAdults: £17.50 – Children: £12.85
How could we not mention Cadbury World? Children will love learning how their favourite confectionery is made, playing in chocolate rain and adding their favourite treat to a delicious pot of warm liquid Cadbury Dairy Milk. With 14 chocolatey zones to explore, there is always something to see and do, from strolling through the Aztec Jungle and discovering the origins of the cocoa bean to playing in the African Adventure Play Area.

Ilfracombe Chocolate Emporium, Devon
The seaside is where it’s at this World Chocolate Day! Situated in the beautiful seaside town of Ilfracombe, this shop and museum has a collection of chocolate memorabilia and is home to a six foot chocolate man! As we all know, no trip to a chocolate museum would be complete without a visit to its shop and Ilfracombe’s Chocolate Emporium caters for everyone!

John Bull Factory, Bridlington – Adults: £4 – Children aged four and over £3
Go behind the scenes at John Bull’s Factory where you can see rock, biscuits and chocolates being made right before your eyes and even give it a go yourself! As part of the factory tour, you will hear all about the history of the local confectioners as told by a John Bull ancestor. Then, for the really fun part, children can take part in rock rolling or chocolate lolly making!
