Escape to somewhere special this Valentine’s Day with TomTom’s top five most romantic road trip destinations. Go on, spoil yourself!

#1: St Ives, Cornwall
Get away on a road trip to picturesque St Ives and fall under the spell of Cornwall. St Ives is home to secluded seaside sanctuaries and amazing views that are ideal for Valentine’s Day. With a number of sandy beaches, St Ives is a perfectly British destination; one filled with Cornish ice-cream, award-winning art galleries and whitewashed houses.

#2: Cotswolds, Broadway
The Cotswolds are the perfect backdrop for a road trip with their beautiful honey coloured stone buildings – a big contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city. The famous circular Broadway route passes stunning hill villages, stately homes and the world-famous Cotswolds countryside. To drive the route non-stop would only take a couple of hours. But, to properly take in the atmosphere you will, more than likely, spend a good full day before arriving back to Broadway with lots of fantastic memories.

#3: Grasmere, The Lake District
It’s no secret the Lake District is one of Britain’s most romantic and loved regions. Home to the world-famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, Grasmere is a hot spot for explorers. Grasmere is also where you can find the charming Dove Cottage, historically home to one of the most romantic poets, William Wordsworth and the place where he wrote some of his most famous poetry.

#4:
 Isle of Skye, Scotland
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this fairy-tale island in rugged North-West Scotland could be the perfect getaway for this year. The island is full of cool and quirky places such as the sheep-filled scenic woodland park of Fairy Glen. Here you can go walking with friends, a loved one, or for some much deserved ‘you time’ to see beautiful waterfalls and wildlife on the most romantic day of the year.

#5: Croyde, Devon
Whether you are after a relaxing retreat or a foodie foray, Croyde in Devon is perfect for a romantic getaway full of scenery and amazing restaurants. Approximately three and a half hours from London, the village of Croyde is a magical place steeped in old world charm and thatched cottages. The beach close to the village is popular with surfers, so why not get wet and wild this Valentine’s Day on Devon’s coast.
